POLITICAL MEETING AT TASMAN

ADDRESS BY MR K. J. HOLYOAKE, M.P. Mr K. J. Holyoake. M.P., delivered a political address to a good attendance at Tasman. Mr F. E. Nottage presided. Mr Holyoake devoted his time to a careful and thoughtful review of the political situation from the, time of the last General Election up to the present time, and touched briefly on the many and radical changes already made in the system of Government in the Dominion, the main objective of which appeared to be the complete socialisation of all phases of industry, commerce and labour. Rapidly rising taxation, increased cost of living and production, and loss of individual freedom appeared tc be inseparable from the present policy. Mr Holyoake concluded by urging his hearers to give very careful consideration to the trend of events and to vote at, the coming election in such a way as to leave no doubt in the minds of the legislators as to whether the rights of the individual, or a complete system of autocratic control of the Dominion’s Financial and Industrial activities by party politicians, is to be the destiny ol' the Dominion in the years to come. The speaker answered a number of questions and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Messrs J. Dicker and H. Johnstone.
