AUSTRALIAN MINISTERS IN LONDON
EVENTFUL WEEK-END I United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copy right 1 LONDON, 23rd May. Their presence in London during one of Europe’s several week-end crises was very valuable to the Australian Minister of Commerce, Sir Earle Page, and his colleagues, who, with the Australian High Commissioner, Mr S. M. Bruce, remained in contact with the British authorities during the week-end. Apart from their consultations with officials on the spot, they were able to examine the welter of dispatches to and from European capitals every minute. They could also see the working of the Commonwealth’s External Affairs Department in London.
Sir Earle Page’s party this morning formally called on Lord Stanley, primarily to welcome him to the Dominion Secretaryship and to fix the next Anglo-Australian trade talks for 27th May, but they conferred on the international situation.
