Gwen and Ted soon got a better idea of the thing Richard had made, which he called a sledge on wheels. “A sledge is made to slide down snow-covered hills,” he explained. “Well, we haven't any snow-sovered hills here, but we have plenty of hills, so by just fitting wheels on the board we have what amounts to a sledge.” Gwen was not very satisfied, because she thought the best fun about a sledge was exactly what was missing—the snow. However, she decided to give it a trial, and Ted said he would, too.
