To-night the management will ol- , ter to the public what is claimed to be one of the finest variety programmes ever presented. The attraction is the ! non-stop revue show “She Shall Have Music,” featuring Jack Hylton and his . band—the world-famous dance orches- j tra. Included in the acts are various artists of stage, screen arid radio' and it promises to be a picture of real high-class entertainment. Attraction No. 2 is the film of the famous FarrBraddock fight in which the latter makes a sensational comeback and becomes again a contender for the world's title. . Summing up in its | strikingly realistic story the lives and careers of all stage-struck girls every- | where "Stage Door” brings Katharine Hepburn and Ginger Rogers together j for the first time, with Adolphe Menjou co-starred at the head of a brilliant ■ cast. The picture is based on the famous stage play which ran for nearly half a year in New York Most of its vividly \ absorbing action takes place in a theatrical boarding house where scores , of eager and ambitious girls live and hope and sometimes perish while they strive for fame behind the footlights , Two of the girls in particular stand out from the others—Katharine Hepburn, a wealthy debutante who seeks a stage ■ career against her family’s wishes, and Ginger Rogers, a happy-go-lucky, wisecracking youngster with-no background and no money, but confident that she can succeed on her own. Constance Collier. Ralph Forbes, Franklin Pangborn, Samuel B. Hinds. Ann ' Miller. Frances Gifford. Pierre Watkin and many other notables of the screen are in the supporting cast of this unusual offering. Gregory La Cava, who has directed many exceptional pictures, handled this offering, which was pro- j duced by Pandro S. Berman. Edna 1 Forbes and George S. Never before have those popular stars Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy appeared to greater .advantage. The test of the pictures . excellence is the fact that it runs lor two and a quarter hours without creating the slightest symptom of fatigue. Chinese heroine of "The Good Earth” to the Russian c untess of “The Emperor s Candlesticks.” As the tough, but good natured taxicab driver, Tracy plays his first role since his hit parts in “Captains Courageous” and "They Gave Him a Gun.” Also prominent in the cast are Charley Grapewin, Janet Beecher and Eddie Quillan. j "Storm Over the Ancles,’’ featuring Jack Holt and Mona Barrie, is an 'exciting story of an ace flyer who sells his services to a foreign nation involved in warfare. Included in the supporting cast are Grant Withers and Antonio Moreno. The associate feature, "Love Before Breakfast,” with Carole Lombard and Preston Foster in the leading roles, is a brilliant comedy revealing a modern young lady who demands the right to her own opinions, even when they include the desire to marry two young men. The fun begins when one iof her suitors gives her a black eye j accidentally. From that point, every | time he tries to win her favour, he i does something else which stirs her wrath more. Her spoken lines snap like a whip, crackling like static in a ' lightning storm. The smart dialogue In "Love Before Breakfast" grows naturally from the humorous situations. The climax of the laughs is heightened by happenings during a storm at sea. Patrons are again reminded that it is guest night and that there are no reserves.
