ROAD SAFETY
PATROLS APPOINTED BY MOTOR CYCLING CLUBS [United Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. To give advice to motor cyclists with the object of increasing road safety 12 patrols have been appointed by motor cycling clubs in Christchurch. The patrols will watch for breaches of the regulations by other motor cyclists and point out to them in what way they have infringred the rules or caused danger to other users of roads. The patrols are purely for the assistance of motor cyclists and will not seek in any way to bring prosecutions against offenders. The appointment of patrols followed a conference between the Minister of Transport (the Hon. R. Semple) and representatives of three clubs. Delegates from clubs met last night and set up a combined motor cycle clubs' road safety committee. The committe® comprises three delegates from each city club and it is probable that the Ashburton club will also appoint a member.
