Smith, the sitting member, has been selected by the local National Party executive to contest the New Plymouth seat. With the exception of one term, Mr Smith has represented the electorate since 1918. LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR OAMARU OAMARU, 29th March. The Rev. A. H. Nbrdmeyer, M.P., has been selected unanimously by delegates of all organisations in the electorate affliliatfed with the New Zealand Labour Party, to contest the Oamaru seat at the forthcoming elections. Delegates severely criticised local bodies for not taking advantage of the Government’s offer of cheap money to alleviate the housing shortage in Oamaru. LABOUR PARTY CANDIDATES ENDORSED WELLINGTON, This Day. At a recent meeting of the National Executive of the New Zealand Labour Party, the following sitting members of Parliament were endorsed as the party’s candidates for next election:— Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P., Hamilton. Mr Ormond Wilson. M.P., Rangitikei. Mr James Thorn. M.P., Thames. Hon. W. Lee Martin, M.P., Raglan. Mr C. H. Burnett. M.P., Tauranga. Hon. W. Nash M.P., Hutt Members of the party are now being asked to choose the party’s candidates in the following electorates: Riccarton, Wellington Suburbs. Pahiatua, Motueka. and Central Otago. Selection ballots are now being taken
