On the J Sunday alter, the rev. gentleman said: • The ladies have been kind enough to present me with a pulpit gown: but I lest any member should object to my wearing it, 1 shan’t put it on yet. and will hear objections on Thursday I night." Nobody arrived to object but an old lady. ‘Well, Janet, what objections have you to the pulpit gown?" J Aw eel. sir.” said Janet, “we never read ol the Apostle Paul wearing a gown!” The doctor: “You are quite light. Janet; but we never read ol ot. Paul wearing breeks (trousers)!” Bill: “I know now that my wife lied to me before we were engaged.” Tom: “What do you mean?” "When 1 asked her to marry me she said she was agreeable."
