IN APPRECIATION OF A TRUE FRIEND
A very wide circle of friends, rot only in Nelson but throughout the whole of New Zealand, will join in sympathy with Mr G. L. Chittenden, of Mount street, in the loss of his valuable dog, Bob. Few animals have created greater interest or been more generally loved than Bob. He displayed a degree of intelligence that was almost unbelievable. His repertoire of amusing feats provided an entertainment that was always sure of an enthusiastic reception and earned for him the personal praise of our late Governor-General, Viscount Bledisloe. Hjs fascinating story has been told in the Press of New Zealand and eagerly listened to, by young and old alike, from the principal radio stations. “Bob,” writes a friend, "is gone. But, to the blind man, there remains the memory of an unerring guide on every journey for ten years, a companion of unfailing loyalty, a friend of intesliniablc u orth. ’
