The appointment of the Rev. 0. Robertson, as Moderator of the Christchurch Presbytery, was confirmed at u meeting of the Presbytery yesterday states ? Press Association message. He succeeled the Rev. J. Lawson Robinson Mr Robertson has been minister at Cashmere Hills Church since 1930. and before that was at Clyde. At yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the Nelson Harbour Board it was resolved on the motion of the chairman (Mr A. Gould), seconded by Mr C. T. Price, that the board expresses to Sir Theodore Rigg its good wishes in the honour conferred on him and the Cawtfiron Institute. The good wishes of the farming community and the fruitgrowers were expressed by Mr H. W. Chisnah and Mr J H. Brunt. The death occurred, following an operation, of Mrs Jane Brider, wife of Mr H. A. Brider, of the Wanganui “Herald” staff. The late Mrs Brider was a prominent member of the Baptist Church in Wanganui and had served as a deaconess practically up to the time of her illness. She had also rendered valuable service in connection with the missionary work of the church, and was an active worker in other directions. The deceased before coming to Wanganui, was a member of the Richmond and Nelson Baptist Churches Mrs Brider spent her girlhood at Richmond.
