NEW ZEALAND GREASY CROSSBREDS IN DEMAND HOME TRADE ACTIVE RANGE OF PRICES [United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright] (Received 19th January, 10.15 r>m.) LONDON, 18th January. The wool sales opened par to five per cent, better all round, with the exception of short-haired inferior merinos. At the wool sales 7792 bales were offered, including 1479 New Zealand, and 6565 were sold.
New Zealand (Canterbury) slipe halfbred combing lambs, 10? d to 14.? d, slipe crossbred combing lambs 9Jd to 13d. There was a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. The Home trade actively sought all New Zealand greasy crossbreds available. Prices for best scoured and greasy merinos and crossbreds were five per cent, dearer; medium scoured and greasy merinos and crossbreds were unchanged; and coarse scoured and greasy merinos and crossbreds five per cent, lower than the closing prices of last series.
