BABY GIRAFFE GROWING

TWO INCHES DAILY LONDON, 29th January. While the Prime Minister (Mr Chamberlain) was walking in the Whipsnade Zoo he was met by Mr Julian Huxley, the biologist and writer, and invited to see a baby giraffe which was born cn Boxing Day. Besides officials of the Zoo, Mr Chamberlain is the only person who has seen the giraffe, which, because of the day on which it arrived, has been named Boxer. At present it is more than sft in height, but it will grow at the extraordinary rate of two inches a day until it touches 7ft. when it will grow only four or five inches a week until it becomes fully grown. It is worth £IOO at present, but its. value at the end of six months will le £3OO
