DUNEDIN WOOL SALE

BEST OK SERIES RANGE OF PRICES I IBy 'lVletrriiiili- I’reHH Aspnoiation 1 DUNEDIN, 21st December. The sixth wool sale of the New Zealand scries held in Dunedin today was characterised by the best price level attained at a Doininoin auction this season. The average price a lb. was about 13d or .1117 a bale, and the gross cheque payable to growers in the province should exceed £ 400,000. The average price for the four Dunedin auctions last year was 1G.94d per lb., or £23 a bale, the total proceeds of file first sale of the year being in the vicinity of £600,000 for approximately 30,000 bales. The aggregate return from to-day’s sale may fall well below that of the opening Dunedin auction last year, but there is ecouragement for the woolgrower in the fact that the market has revived to an extent that seemed improbable three weeks ago. Bradford set a smart pace and the local mills followed it, but Continental competition was not over-brisk. France was a good buyer, but Germany and the United Slates were sluggish and Japan was a negligible factor. Following is the official range of
