Jim Mollison, the well-known aviator, has disclosed that he recently bought the plane which won the King s Cup Air Race. He said he would attempt a solo record in January but refused to disclose his plans. The King’s Cup air race in September was won by Mr Charles Gardner at an average speed of 240 m.p.h.

In 1935 the late Mrs Putnam, who was lost in the Pacific last July while attempting a round-the-world ~%ght made the first solo flight across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland, a distance of 2408 miles, in 18hr lTrnins.
