YOUTH SLASHED WITH RAZOR
NIGHT INCIDENT AT AUCKLAND IHy Tplcgrapb Press Association! AUCKLAND, 20th December. The first razor slashing case within memory of the Auckland police occurred in the busiest part of Queen Street about 10.30 on Saturday night, when Colin Richard Honey, aged 17 years, residing in Auckland, was gashed with a razor on the face by one of two men who followed him out of a picture show. The assailant and his companion escaped. According to the story told by Honey he and his cousin, Victor Stedinan, were at a picture show, and as they were about to leave before the entertainment ended one of the two men who had been sitting behind, pushed him and on following them outside suggested they should go to a back street and “fight it out.” Honey said there was nothing to fight about, and while he and his cousin were standing talking one of the two men drew his hand out of his trousers pocket and with a white-handled blade razor slashed the left side of his face, inflicting a wound running from level with the lobe of the car to the side of the mouth. The two other men disappeared through Queen’s Arcade, presumably running into Customs street. Honey said that as he and his cousin could not find a constable they went to the St. John Ambulance Station, home. When seen to-day Honey, who is an apprentice at an implement works, had returned io work. The police are searching for the assailant.
