W.D.F.U.
THE WAKArUAKA BRANCH I There was a good attendance of members and friends at the October and i November meetings of the Wakapuaka ! branch of the W.D.F.U., when the pro- ■ sident, Mrs J. Corder, presided. The president expressed congraluiai tions to Mrs A. East on the occasion c.f | being selected to judge the domestic section at the A. and P. Show at Richmond. Reference was made to the splendid response of members to the W.D. church parade. The president explained that the women were too busy to undertake the decorative section open to all organ- ; isations at the Nelson Horticultural j Society’s Show. The garden party was discussed to raise funds toward the community ■ chest, and it was decided to hold it in March. There was a good response towards : the purchasing of the 1938 Women’s Division calendars, with the idea of raising funds towards the housekeepers’ 1 mutual benefit. The bring and buy for I members did good business and the February meeting will be devoted to ' signed household hints and Division j rules. For the March meeting there j will be a fancy work competition and • display. In October. Mrs Timnidifi'c won (lie first prize with a sponge sandwich and Mrs A. W. Waslney was second. For November, the president’s competition, guessing articles (tied up in small bags), that were used in a pantry, was won by Mrs A. W. Waslney. Christmas greetings conveyed by (he president and the singing of the New Zealand National Anthem, terminated ■ the last meeting and social afternoon j of another very pleasant and useful ! year.
