Nominations for the selection of candidates to contest scats on city and suburban local bodies were received at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee. There were two nominations for the city Mayoralty, and although no ollicial announcement has been made it is understood they are the deputy-Mayor. the lion. Bernard Martin, and Mr J. Saycgh, who last election came within 645 votes of Sir Ernest Davis's total. Other nominations were received as follow City Council 54. Hospital Board 56, Harbour Board 2fl. Power Board 65. There will be Mayoralty candidates in th? following suburbs: Northcote. Takapuna. Birkenhead, New Lynn. Ml. Albert. Mt. Eden, Onehunga. and Dcvonport. At previous elections very few suburban mayoralties have been contested.
