Remarking that the Court normally imposed imprisonment lor shoplifting, Mr Stilwell, S.M., this morning in view of the probation officer's report, said he would only impose a line. The accused was Thelma Butterworth, aged 36 years, married, who was charged with the theft of a manicure set valued at 26s from Whitcoinbe and Tombs, two pairs of stockings valued at 9s lOd from Kirkcaldic and Stains, and two handkerchiefs valued at os from the D.I.C.
A tine ot £7 IDs was imposed on the first charge, and accused was convicted and discharged on the others.
