A SLOW DEMAND [United Press Association—H.v Electric Telegraph—Copy right 1 (Received 19th November, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, 18th November. At the wool sales 0456 bales were ofTered. including 15H New Zealand, 4(570 being sold. There was a moderate selection and a slow demand. New Zealand slipe crossbrel lambs, Makarewa, top price 14$d, average 14d. DALGETY’S ANNUAL MEETING COMMENTS BY CHAIRMAN (Received 19th November, 1.40 a.m.) LONDON, 18th November. Mr Edmund Parker, the chairman, at Dalgety’s annual meeting, said that with a further period of settled Government ahead and given good seasons, there was no reason why the present prosperous times should not be maintained. It was true that the price of wool had fallen sharply and the market was unstable, but to-day’s prices were still remunerative. Taxation in New Zealand and Australia was a very heavy burden and there was little prospect of relief. In fact New Zealand bids fair to become one of the most heavily taxed countries in the world.
