FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE

OUTBREAK IN ENGLAND POSSIBLE CAUSE OF IMPORTATION I United Press Association— By Elect nr Telegraph-Copvrin'it t LONDON, 11th November. “The evidence indicates that foot-and-mouth disease was imported into Great Britain by migrant birds,” said Mr W. S. Morrison, Minister of Agriculture, in the House of Commons. He added that the possibilty of the transportation of the disease by mud brought into the country on the wheels and chassis of motor-cars had not been overlooked, but the nature of the present outbreak showed that it was caused by field infection and not road infection. The Government intended to continue its policy of slaughtering, with compensation.
