OVERSEAS COMPETITION DISMISSALS AT AUCKLAND (IV Tcleeraph-Press Assurfailoiil AUCKLAND, 12th November. Owing to the competition from overseas, a large boot-manufacturing firm at Auckland has given notice to a number of employees. Over a score ended their employment to-day, and it is expected that a similar number will finish up next week. The industry is negotiating with the Government for tariff protection, and it is expected that a settlement of the question will be reached next week.
