The “Daily Telegraph” says reports that the New Zealand Government intends to raise the tariffs against Australian manufactured goods are insistent. These reports were added to by the President of the New Zealand Manufacturer’s Federation, Mr Henry, who on arrival from New Zealand yesterday said that the New Zealand Government would probably take action after the Australian Federal elections. Mr Henry added: “The Government’s plans will be in the interests of the New Zealand and British manufacturers as Britain is our best export customer for primary products. At present New Zealand imports from Australia are four times more than she exports to this country. The Government has taken heed of the manufacturers' protests against the flood of Australian goods and is deter' mined to act.”

We are not making a definite statement and we are not going to be drawn into it by anyone.”
