Suspicion that the death of an Auckland woman, a budgerigar fancier, was caused by psittacosis, or parrot’s disease, is unfounded Seven birds collected from her home by the Health Department were destroyed and a postmortem examination carried out at the laboratory at Auckland Hospital. There was no trace of the disease in the
birds. The Health authorities expressed the belief tiiat New Zealand at the present tiir is free from psittacosis.
