GERMAN AIRMEN
VISIT TO ENGLAND TO BE RECEIVED BY THE KING COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMME ARRANGED [British Official Wireless) (Received 19th October, 10.37 a.m.) RUGBY, 18th October. This evening the King receives at Buckingham Palace a party of officers of the German Air Force led by General Milch, which arrived at Croydon for a week’s visit as guests of the Air Council. The invitation was given in acknowledgement of the hospitality extended earlier this year by the German Air Force to a number of officers of the Royal Air Force. The party visited the Air Ministry, v/here they were received by Lord Swinton, Secretary of State for Air. Tonight they attend a dinner given by the Air Council. The programme includes an inspection of the fighter station at Hornchurch, of Army Co-operation units at Odiham in Hampshire, and a hig bomber station at Mildenhall, and a visit to Cranwell, where cadets are trained at the Royal Air Force College. A flying display will be given at Mildenhall, including if conditions are suitable, a massed fly past of the latesl bombers.
