MISS JEAN BATTEN’S FLIGHT

ARRIVAL AT DARWIN I United Press Association—U.v Electrlo Telegraph-Copvriehtl DARWIN, 17th October. Miss Jean Batten arrived after an uncomfortable journey through dust and heat. The engine is to be cleaned. There is little hope of beginning the flight to England before Tuesday. Miss Batten is interested in Mr H. F. Broadbent’s attempt to break the record from England. If he succeeds, Miss Batten “hopes to return the compliment.”

Miss Batten stated that owing to a dust storm at times she was forced to fly so low between Mount Isa and Camooweal that she barely cleared the tree-tops.
