SCOTTISH SOCIETY’S INGLESIDE
The monthly Ingleside of the Nelson Provincial Scottish Society was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall when a large crowd assembled and thoroughly enjoyed the mixed programme of items and dancing, produced in an atmosphere which was typical of all Scottish nights. There was a friendliness and warmth which was appreciated by members and visitors alike and was one of the main reasons for the success of the evening. The performers were mostly those who were successful in the Scottish sections at the recent competitions and their items were well received. One of the features of the programme was a splendid rendering of “Angus McDonald” by Miss L. Max of Brighlwatcr, who .was the gold medalist in her section at the Competitions. Other items were: Song, Master Harry Fleming; Highland Fling, Miss Freeman; recitation and song, Miss Betty Henderson; song, Miss Etta Banks; song, Miss M. Ross; foursome reel, by four young dancers; sword dance, lan Macky. The chief (Mr J. Logan) welcomed all visitors and members and took the opportunity of farewclling Mrs P. McHardy, who is leaving for South Africa to join her husband. During the supper interval Past Chief W. Black expressed thanks to the artists and the City Pipe Band who helped to make the night a successful Nelson Scots’ evening.
