What is believed to be the longest duel in history was fought by Chief Engineer Zboropjaj and Dr Prueler, a fencing expert. The duel lasted two and a half hours. They used light cavalry sabres. Both were wounded early in the combat and again in the 12th round when the second wanted to stop the fight which continued until the 51st round, when it was declared ended owing to the exhaustion of the duellists. The duel originated over an argument at a meeting.
