On Friday last an exhibition match was played bv Guy the well known professional on the Tahunanui links. The game consisted of a four ball in which Guy and L. G. Ross (the local professional) played against Messrs J. Newman and E. Coote. Guy with this great length found the course comparatively easy, going round in 69, four under the scratch score. At the twelfth he played a spoon off the tec (277 yards) and reached the green holing his putt for an eagle 2. The match was won by the professionals 1 up. Ihe best ball of the match was 63 ten under the scratch score of the course. FOUR BALL MATCH Un Saturday a four ball bogey was played, the best cards being:—Squires and Goodman 8 up; Partridge and Alloo 6 up; J. 11. Ralfe and Mitchell 5 up; Newman and Boves 4 up; J. and E. Coote 3 up; McKay and M. Rout 3 up; Symes and Hendry 3 up. REHANDICAPS The following rehandicaps have been listed :—Squires to 15-11; Hulme to 20-16. BRITISH OPEN AND “WORLD TITLE” GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

Henry Cotton, acclaimed as the world’s best golfer, has now won the British Open Championship twice in four years, playing Dunlop throughout. R A. Whitcombe, runner-up, also chose Dunlop—the ball of prodigious length and accuracy. Cotton, a few days later, crowned this achievement by winning the unofficial world’s championship, over 72 holes by 6 and s—again played Dunlop—the ball chosen by champions.
