WAGES AND HOLIDAY BOOKS S> ACT NOT BEING COMPLIED WITH EMPLOYER FINED AT WHANGAREI [By Telegraph—Press Association] WHANGAREI, This Day. “Unless farmers take notice of the publicity given to this case, no doubt we will have a crop before the Court,” said Mr G. N. Morris, S.M., in the Police Court, giving judgment in a case under the Agricultural Workers’ Act. “Many do not realise their responsibilities under the Act,” he added. The case was one in which J. Whatmough, of Opuawhanga, was charged with failure to keep wages and holiday books in respect of two agricultural workers. The Inspector of Awards said that a number of farmers failed to meet their obligations in respect of keeping wages and holiday books, and in future he would be compelled to ask for substantial penalties. Defendant was fined 30s.
