PROTEST AGAINST DEPORTATION [United Press Association —By Elect :j Telegraph— Copyright I (Received 19th June, 10.35 a.m.) PORTLAND (Oregon), 18th June. The International Longshoremen’s Association convention protested to President Roosevelt against the examination of Mr T. Bridges by local immigration authorities and their effort to deport him. The immigration inspector stated that one of Mr Brdges ! s colleagues has been subpoenaed to give evidence against the Australian, but no action was' contemplated. (Mr Bridges is president of the Longshoremen’s Union on the Pacific Coast).
