FISH CAMOUFLAGE

A recent addition to the inhabitant; jot the London Zoo aquarium is the i remarkable Dead Leaf Fish from South [America. Its finder, collecting in a [forest, was surprised to see what appeared to be dead leaves moving in a pool of perfectly still water. Some were drifting, others were still attached to stems bearing leaves. Some of the latter attracted attention by detaching themselves and swimming about in a very leisurely manner. When examined, ■ they were found to be fish camouflaged as withered leaves with a fidelity paralleled only by the celebrated Leaf Butterfly of India.
