'A message from Moultrie, Georgia, states that Mae Wilkes, aged 34, Who Was indicted on sth April oh a charge of utteririg defamatory statements against Mrs Stephenson, aged 40, Was shot dead in the street, three bullets from a revolver hidden in a paper bag striking her.
Mrs Stephenson, Who is the mother of three children, sUtrended to the sheriff with the request, "Take me to gaol."
Mrs Stephenson and her husband separated recently. The sheriff said that jealousy was involved in a dispute between the two women.
