MOTOR STRIKE

The strike at the General Motors Corporation plant at Oshawa, at a meeting, ratified the settlement of the strike by a vote of 2205 to 26, and will return to work on Monday. The Premier of Ontario. Mr Mitchell Hepburn, the corporation and the United Automobile Workers’ Union of America all claim victory. Mr Hepburn contended that he had prevented the Committee for Industrial Organisation from gaining a foothold and had halted its drive to organise the mines. The General Motors Corporation said it had signed a contract with the representatives of its own employees evaly, while the U.A.W. contended that it had won de facto recognition for itself and the C. 1.0., since the local union was mentioned in the contract and is a member of the 'J A.W., which is aiiiliated with the C. 1.0.
