NELSON CHESS CLUB

A meeting of the Nelson Chess Club was held in the Toe H Rooms, when a series of friendly games was played, A number of players are showing improved form over last year and it is confidently' expected that some very interesting play-will be witnessed this season. - ’

The handicapper (Mr N. R. Meads) returned the graded list of players for ladder purposes, and the ladder having been arranged, play in this tournament will commence at the next meeting of the club. Also at the next "meeting the first match of the season for the Silver Knight will be played when the present holder, Mr Parsons, will be called upon to defend the trophy, The secretary is anxious to complete the list of members intending to play in this club championship and it is hoped that play will commence at an early date and that the keen interest shown by members in last season’s championship contest will be maintained this year.
