GREETINGS TO OLD COMRADES MESSAGE FROM FIELD-MARSHAL BIRDWOOD "MAGNIFICENT LOT OF MEN FOR ' CORONATION” |By Telegraph—Press Association] WELLINGTON, This Day. The following message has been received by the Defence Department from Field-Marshal Sir William Birdwood: "It has been a great pleasure to all in the Old Country to see New Zealand uniforms here once more worn by the magnificent lot of men you have sent over for the Coronation, whom we are delighted to have with us for Anzac Day. I send my sincere greetings to all my old comrades and homage to the people of New Zealand for that day.”
The following message was sent by the Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, to Field-Marshal Sir William Birdwood and General Godley through the High Commissioner in London: “Slncerest greetings and good wishes from the New Zealand Forces and people of New Zealand.” The Defence Department in Wellington sent the following message to Army Headquarters in Melbourne: “The New Zealand Forces exchange kindest greeting and good wishes in remembrance of Anzac."
