LORD RUNCIMAN ILL

PROMINENT SHIP-OWNER [British OUicial Wireless] RUGBY, 21st April. Lord Runciman, the shipowner, who is 89 years of age. had a relapse yesterday, and his son, Mr W. Runciman, President of the Board of Trade, travelled from London to Northumberland, where his father has been confined to his room on medical advice. Waller Runciman, the first Baron Runciman, is senior partner in'the firm of Walter Runciman and Co., Ltd., of Newcastle-on-Tyne and London; chairman and managing director of the Moor Lino of cargo steamships and chairman of the Anchor Line (1935), Ltd. He was Liberal member of the House of Commons for Hartlepool from 1914 to 1918. He has written largely on the sea and ships.
