THREE WEEKS’ IMPRISONMENT INTOXICATED MOTORIST SENTENCED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Describing the case as a bad one which gave him no alternative but to impose imprisonment, Mr Luxford, S.M. to-day sentenced Norman Francis Sandbrook (29) labourer, to three weeks’ imprisonment for being intoxicated in charge of a car. The accused pleaded guilty. . The police said that about 1 a.m. on 7th January accused’s car collided with several verandah posts in Willis street, carrying them away and bringing down a verandah, which broke three plate glass windows. The car continued on its way but was stopped by a taxi driver, who removed the ignition key. The police then arrived and medical examination at the station showed that accused was unfit to drive. Extensive damage was done to the car. Accused’s driving license was suspended until 31st May.
