THE WEATHER

SOUTH-EASTERLY WINDS The forecast to-day was for moderate to strong south-easterly winds, rising in places to gale force; weather fair, but clouding over and later ram probable. The week continues to be more settled in Nelson than for some time past, the sun shining brilliantly today from a clear sky. Yesterday s bright sunshine amounted to 9hrs 40min. To-day there was a southerly breeze blowing. The barometer this morning read 29.94, and rose during the day to over the 30 mark.
