PALESTINE COMMISSION
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST JEWS DESIGNS AGAINST HOLY PLACES (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright..' JERUSALEM, 12th January. The Royal Commission listened tensely to the first statement of the Arab case before them by the Grand Mufti, who alleged that the Jews had designs against Moslem holy places. Lord Peel, chairman, interrupted, reminding the Grand Mufti that there was a solemn undertaking under the mandate for the protection of Arab shrines. The Grand Mufti repeated that he believed the Jews intended to destroy the famous mosque of Omar, and proceeded to demand, firstly, abandon' ment of the Jewish national home experiment; and secondly, the immediate and complete stoppage of Jewish immigration and land purchase; and thirdly that the mandate be replaced by a treaty between Britain and the Arabs.
The Grand Mufti concluded with a warning that unrest would be intensified unless the grievances were removed.
