In a letter to the Royal and Ancient Association it states: “It. is., unnecessary and undesirable to restrict the game in the suggested manner which would interfere with the freedom of gdifers in tlie matter of equipment.” ; A cable received from London on. 2nd January stated that the Rules of Golf Committee had announced that it would recommend to the Royal and Ancient meeting next May that the number of clubs which might be used to play a game be limited to fourteen.; The” United States Golf Association: had agreed to support the-recommen-dation.
