AUTOMATIC TRAFFIC COUNTER—A car passing an automatic traffic counter which has recently been installed near Harrisbury, Philadelphia. Simultaneous interruption of two infra-red beams from the unit at the right to one at the left works an electric eye and registers the count in the unit at left, which prints by hour, day, week or month cumulative totals of vehicles passing in either direction, or both.
