“The Health and Education Departments are consulting upon physical education —it might be substituted for military drill in schools,” said the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser) to a deputation at Auckland on Wednesday, reports the “New Zealand Herald.” “After all,” he added, “defence does not call for paradeground drill—marching about and forming fours. Nowadays defence means flying about in aeroplanes and using mechanical weapons of all sorts.”
