WAINUI STREET AND THE DUST NUISANCE
(To The Editor) Sir,—Through the columns of your paper I would like to ask our Mayor and Councillors how much longer, we, as residents of Wainui street are to put up with the dust nuisance we get at present. What is the use of cleaning and painting as the council advocates when it is smothered in dust before the job is finished. The work was promised to be done in 1936 and that is quickly drawing to a close. This is practically a main highway and carries a very large amount of traffic. If work is done on a radius scheme as we are given to understand by our City Engineer, why this section has been left out while two further away are tar sealed it is hard to say. Hoping the council will give this their immediate attention as we are absolutely sick of dust and as the council collects quite a fair amount of rates from this street it is only our due. —I am etc.
