GOOD BUSINESS

RAILWAY AND ROAD TRANSPORT ESTIMATED REVENUE LIKELY TO BE EXCEEDED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Business is reported as being exceptionally good in the State’s railway and road transport services. The improvement this financial year is marked alike in respect to passengers and freight. As indicating the improved business, the Department had estimated a gross revenue increase of £691,000 this financial year, and this mark is in sight with a good margin. Already the gain is over £400,000, and the most productive five four-weekly periods are ahead, these promising very satisfactory results. This prospect is based on actual returns, especially on national holidays, special excursions and attractive occasions.
