SERVICE TO THE EAST CHINA CLIPPER LEAVES SAN FRANCISCO (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, Bth October. The China Clipper departed at 3.24 p.m., Pacific time, on the first of two preliminary flights, before the regular weekly passenger service starts on 21st October. It is carrying thirteen persons, including the crew and five journalists. One representative of the Pan-Ameri-can Airways is due at Manila on Tuesday morning.

The flight will be the culmination of four years’ preparation, including one year of test flying, during which 52 perfect flights have been made between San Francisco and Manila.
