SPECTACULAR ADVANCES PALMY DAYS OF 1929 RECALLED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 7th October. The “Daily Herald’s” city editor says conditions on the Stock Exchange yesterday were unequalled since the palmy days of 1929. Speculators and investors rushed to buy anything likely to rise. There were some spectacular advances —Imperial Tobaccos, in three days appreciated £14,000,00; Courtaulds £5,000,000; and Imperial Chemicals, £5,250,000.
