TAHUNA SANDS

COUNCIL’S LEASE TO ASSOCIATION FOR TERM OF TEN YEARS The City Council at last night’s meeting decided to grant a lease of the sands to the Tahuna Sands Association for a period of ten years. Councillors E. R. Neale (chairman), the Mayor (Mr G. L. Page), Councillors H. Hurst, G. P. Russell, and J. Fitz-Gerald were the members of the Reserves Committee present at a conference with representatives of the Association and the committee made tne following recommendation. “After conferring with representatives of the Tahuna Sands Association, the committee recommends the granting of a lease of that portion of the Sands Reserve lyip,g to the-east of a line running north and south from a point approximately 40 chains west of the waiting shed, for a term of ten years and uper conditions generally similar to those of the Association's pi'evious lease.

“Note: This recommendation is made subject to the Council having the power to grant a lease for the proposed term.”

The Mayor pointed out that the Association had a plan of improver ments which would take a number of years to complete and for that reason the Association wished to have a good term in the lease. The reoort was adopted.
