THE WEATHER

CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED RAIN

The weather is predicted to be cloudy to overcast with scattered rain, more especially in the back country, and moderate temperatures.

To-day’s dull, overcast weather was a contrast with the sunny conditions that prevailed yesterday when 11 hours of sunshine were recorded. There was only a light air from the north-west this morning, and the barometer stood at the same point as yesterday, 30.13. The minimum temperature this morning was 37.2

degrees at the Cawthron Institute and 35 degrees at the Government Research Orchard. Pressure continues to be high over New Zealand, but while the North Island was enjoying fine weather this morning conditions in the South Island were mainly overcast. Winds were chieily from the north and west.
