RACING AT RANDWICK

THIRD DAY OF SPRING MEETING GIMCRACK STAKES TO RECORD GAY BLONDE WINS CRAVEN PLATE (United Presn Association—R.v Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 7th October. The third day of the spring meeting was Held at Randwick to-day in warm weather. There was an excellent attendance and the track was in good order. The Girncrack Stakes provided a splendid tussle. There were seven horses in tine nearing the post, the winner securing the verdict by half a head. Silver Ring attempted to lead all the way in the Craven plate, but commenced to shorten his strides nearing the distance. Gay Blonde, finishing resolutely, went on to win by one and a-quarter lengths. Sporting Blood finished with great dash but was just out of the place money. The Night. Raid colt, Rob Roy, made the opposition appear cheap in the Members’ Handicap. Taking charge shortly after the barrier rise, he was never off the bit and romped home a winner with six lengths’ advantage. The winner is a splendid type of colt and the ease with which he ran out the mile and a-quarter brings him under discussion as a Melbourne Cup possibility.
