THE REPORT The president presented the following report: “Your committee are pleased to report a. successful year of the club. Financially we are in a better position than we have been at. the close of the past three seasons. Our increased balance is due to successful card parties, etc., beiiig held throughout the year. One was- held at the home of the president (Mrs Atkins’s) and several were held at the ; Riwaka Library. The success of these was due principally to the memorial commute, who lent us cards and crockery and assisted us in every way, for which we thank them. Competitions held also brought in a good sum of money. A very successful dance was held last March and resulted in nearly £7 being added to our club’s funds. Membership kept at the same level as last year. Play, especially at the latter end of the season, was keen and of a good standard. We congratulate the winners of trophies. The senior championship - went to .Mrs ;W. Marshall and the junior championship tp Mrs F.; G. Painter;. The , trio , trophy went to -Mrs D. Eggers and the Mo-tueka-Golden Bay championship to Mrs G. Atkins. Visits were paid us by the Mapua and Golden Bay clubs and : our members visited the Mapua, Nelson and Hinemoa .clubs. We held a very enjoyable'all-day tournament on Easter Monday, twelve pairs taking part. Mrs II Goodall and Mr W. Hickmott are to be congratulated on winning the trophies for the mixed pairs. . . A : . “Our lawns have been kept in splendid order throughout the season, and our grateful thanks are due to the caretaken (Mr L. Evans) ; for painting our pavilion free and keeping everything in trim order. “We hope for an increased membership for the season 1936-37. We feel that we would rather have double, the number of members at half the price of our usual subscription. Officebearers of the club are heartily thanked for their untiring zeal at all times, and, on retiring, we wish the incoming committee every success.”
