RESULT OF STOP-WORK MEETING (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, 6th October, "f result of a stop-work meeting held by the miners, work at the Tara(u collieries, near Kaitangata, has been at a standstill since Monday morning. Under the recent legislation the mines have been working since Ist July under the Arbitration Court award of 1931. A few weeks ago the T aratu Miners’ Union applied for a new award, among the demands a seven-hour day being included, and on the consent of all parties at a conciliation meeting on Bth August the matter was referred to the Arbitration Court

The Kaitangata Coal Company’s mines are not affected by the dispute at present
